Mother's Day 2010

"Being a full-time mother is one of the highest salaried jobs...since the payment is pure love." ~ Mildred B. Vermont

This Mother's Day was special for so many reasons. First of all I got to celebrate being the mother of two beautiful little girls. They are the light of my life and make my days brighter!

Daddy and the girls surprised me with some extra rest this morning, and then I woke up to a flower and a vanilla latte.

We all got ready for church, which was extra special today, because we dedicated our sweet Emerson in front of our church family. It was 2 years ago on Mother's Day that we did the same with Ella Grace. What a blessing! (More pics on that to come later!)

Ella's SS class made special Mother's Day gifts, and I have to say that it made me tear up. My first handmade gift from Ella...
(The flower was made with her little finger tips. Precious.)

After church we had lunch as a family, and then I met my mom and sisters for a fun day at the Swiss Avenue Home Tour. Can I just say that those homes are AMAZING! I loved hearing the stories and history behind them. If walls could talk...! We ended the day with a yummy dinner at Penne Pomodora in Lakewood. Mmmm...bruschetta! It was so nice to have a relaxing girls day with my favorite women and mothers. :)

Happy Mother's Day to our wonderful mothers and grandmother! Thank you for all that you have done and for making us the parents that we are today. We love you!!!

Mother's Day 2009

"Of all the rights of women, the greatest is to be a mother."
-- Lin Yutang

I had such a nice Mother's Day this year with my family. The morning started with Zach making me homemade honey blueberry muffins! YUMMY! We went to the local farmer's market on Saturday and the vendor who sold us our honey gave us this wonderful recipe with our purchase. Z even used fresh blueberries we bought that day too. Ella (and daddy :)) also gave me a spa treatment from Belfiore' for my mommy gift. What a nice start to my Mother's Day!

Since both of our families live in town we usually split up for lunch on Mother's Day and meet up again later. Ella and I headed to my sisters house while Zach ate with his parents at the Harbor. This year we (my family) decided to stay in and not fight the crowds since we have so many kids now. Each of us brought a few things for our brunch and it was SO GOOD! I just love "girly" food and desserts! :)

The spread...

All the moms! (and Clayton)

Moms and kids (It cracks me up how Ella is peeking over the dolls head!)

An attempt at a mommy-daughter picture. She is such a ham.

I just love this picture of my mom and Papaw!

Listening intently to her Honey...

Smiles for baby Clayton. :)

Riding the horsey with Papaw...one of her favorites! She will stand in front of him with her back towards him and back up into his leg when she wants to ride.

Sweet Clayton

After lunch Zach and his parents picked up Ella so I could have the rest of the day "off" just to relax, and spend time with my fam. They all took a trip to Costco to pick up things for the second part of our day. Zach's brother and his family came over for dinner at our house later that evening to celebrate with his mom. It's always so much fun to see Ella interact with her cousins. Haley, Shelby, and Abby always come right in and take over with Ella. They are going to be such great mommies one day! Connor also helped give her a bath and played with her all night. I am so glad that Ella will have such wonderful people surrounding her as she grows up. Wish I would have pulled out the camera to get a group shot of all them, but I guess we were having too much fun!

Since I wasn't blogging this time last year, I wanted to document it now...
Last year on Mother's Day we had Ella Grace's baby dedication in front of our church family. She was only 6 weeks old at the time. It is such a special memory for our family and what better day to celebrate this precious gift than on MD. I also got a necklace with E's birthstone (aquamarine) on it from Zach. I will never forget how sweet my first Mother's Day was.
