Mother's Day 2010

"Being a full-time mother is one of the highest salaried jobs...since the payment is pure love." ~ Mildred B. Vermont

This Mother's Day was special for so many reasons. First of all I got to celebrate being the mother of two beautiful little girls. They are the light of my life and make my days brighter!

Daddy and the girls surprised me with some extra rest this morning, and then I woke up to a flower and a vanilla latte.

We all got ready for church, which was extra special today, because we dedicated our sweet Emerson in front of our church family. It was 2 years ago on Mother's Day that we did the same with Ella Grace. What a blessing! (More pics on that to come later!)

Ella's SS class made special Mother's Day gifts, and I have to say that it made me tear up. My first handmade gift from Ella...
(The flower was made with her little finger tips. Precious.)

After church we had lunch as a family, and then I met my mom and sisters for a fun day at the Swiss Avenue Home Tour. Can I just say that those homes are AMAZING! I loved hearing the stories and history behind them. If walls could talk...! We ended the day with a yummy dinner at Penne Pomodora in Lakewood. Mmmm...bruschetta! It was so nice to have a relaxing girls day with my favorite women and mothers. :)

Happy Mother's Day to our wonderful mothers and grandmother! Thank you for all that you have done and for making us the parents that we are today. We love you!!!

Sunshine, Chalk, a Tutu, and Church

The title pretty much sums up what this post is about...and that's about it. Not much else to say except that Ella has enjoyed the sunshine lately, scribbling with chalk, and wearing her tutu around the house. She is obsessed with dressing up these days! It always makes for a good laugh for me though. :)

As for the church part, today was my first day to go back and Emerson's first day in the nursery. She got to stay with our FAVORITE baby nursery workers this morning, so I was not one bit worried about her. I just love our church family! Sadly we had to miss our SS class Easter egg hunt because it was just too cold and windy to get the girls out. Looking forward to the MOPS hunt on Wednesday though!

Once again, just for fun, here are some pictures of Ella wearing that same dress. The only difference is that Ella was about 4 1/2 months when she wore it! It's a size 0-3 month, so that shows you how much smaller Ella was than her little sis. Emerson is definitely our little chunky monkey!!! :)

Last but not least, Ella's little class made palm trees out of pine cones and pipe cleaners in recognition of Palm Sunday. How cute is that?!

Wonder how long this "cheese" phase will last? Love it!

Hope everyone had a fabulous weekend! Enjoy the week ahead...it's suppose to be nice and warm.

Trunk or Treat 2009

Tonight was our church's annual Trunk or Treat, and we had a blast! I love being a part of a church family like ours where we have been blessed to get to know so many families personally and have formed special relationships with each. It makes events like these that much more fun to look forward to!

Well, miss Ella would not take a nap today for anything. Come to find out, she was too excited about tonight! I let her lay in her bed for about an hour and listened to her through the monitor just jabbering away. I finally decided to get her up and as soon as I walked in she said, "Go to church, have fun with Honey, Caysie, Moni, and Grandad, get candy...". All I could do was laugh! It truly amazes me how she processes things sometimes.

This year was fun because we had my mom and Caysie, Zach's parents, and my sister with her 3 boys there. The kids had so much fun going around from trunk to trunk playing games and collecting candy. While Z and I worked a shift at one of the trunks, Ella got to enjoy some pizza and some candy with the family. {Healthy, I know!} After dinner there was time for more games and bounce houses! Ella actually liked being bounced around inside with the bigger kids. She did not want to come out. :)

First, a few pictures of Ella before MOPS this morning...
(The piggies lasted all of about 5 minutes today!)

FBC Trunk or Treat 2009

This is as good as it gets with 3 little ones...it is impossible to get them all looking at the camera and smiling at the same time! (Not sure who the other little boy is???)

I just added this last one because it shows my baby bump. I haven't taken many pictures this pregnancy, but here you go...it's big, I know! Ha! :)

Stay tuned for more Halloween pictures this weekend!

Lately...

Well, blogging has definitely taken a back seat here lately! With the rain and little miss Ella feeling under the weather we have not been up to very much. With that said, we have still had plenty to do, but they were just not that "blog worthy". :) There have been a few things that I would like to post, but have not been able to catch them on video. {E is obsessed with looking at the video screen!} So, here are some future postings in the works and also things I don't want to forget...

*Ella Grace has learned to count to 10 (and sometimes 11 and 12)
*She can recognize and say the letters of the alphabet when looking at them

***More updates to come in her 18 month post in a few days. :)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I did start MOPS at my church last week and it is so much fun! It gives me the chance to connect with other Christian moms twice a month and enjoy great conversation, food, and friendship. Ella has a great time too! Here are a few pictures I took of her before we left the other morning. She is usually WAY too busy to stop and look at the camera, so action shots it is!
Zach went dove hunting for 3 days last week, so when Friday rolled around we were ready for him to be home! We were excited to spend some family time together for sure. Since the weather was suppose to be gloomy all weekend, on Saturday we decided to make a trip to Central Market to pick up fresh ingredients for white bean chicken chili. CM has the best produce so we knew it would be delicious! We noticed that Ella was not acting like her normal upbeat self on the ride back, and when we got home found that she had a fever. Poor thing is still running a fever off and on, but isn't showing ANY other signs of being sick. No runny nose, tummy ache, etc. She has been a little more fussy than normal though and very clingy, so we have had plenty of cuddle time (in our jammies!) the past few days. Selfishly, I love it...not that she is not feeling well, but that she wants to snuggle with me. :)
Here she is with our favorite pink blanket watching Elmo.
Other than that, we are still rocking along! Miss Emerson is growing and beginning to move a lot more in the past week. I absolutely LOVE feeling the little thuds inside! I go to the dr. again next week, but for now the only thing I have to report is that she is now the length of a banana. :)
***Oh! If you remember when I was pregnant with Ella, my OB was also pregnant and due about a week ahead of me. She ended up delivering 3 days before me, so I had another dr. actually deliver Ella. Well, this time around we joked with her about not getting pregnant so she could deliver Emmy, and come to find out she is pregnant again! This time she is a month behind me, so she should be able to be in the OR this time. :) I love that she is always prego the same time as me though because we get to share stories and feelings that we are going through at that exact moment. Who knows, maybe she will have another boy and we could arrange a couple of marriages??? Ha!
Hope you are all having a great week!
Halloween Fun!
We are having so much fun with all the wonderful Halloween festivities this week! Last night we went to our church's "Trunk or Treat" along with my sister and Ella's cousin, Caysie. They were so adorable in their little costumes! Definitely the cutest little lamb and 50's girl I've ever seen! :) Caysie enjoyed playing all the games and sliding down the big slide while Ella watched. Such a fun time!
Tonight we were invited over to Taren and Camdyn's house for a Halloween get together with all the babies. It was hilarious to see them all in their costumes and even funnier to try to get good picture with them all looking at the camera! Ella was not too happy while she was in her costume, but soon perked up once it was off. Then she was her usual self, smiling, talking, and all over the place. Thanks for the fun night Taren and Cam!
Check out Barrett with all the ladies...
LOVE Camdyn's face in this one!
Not so happy...can you tell?
Freedom! The smile is back! :)
(Sorry...the flash is a little bright in this pic.)
