Gulf Shores ~ Round 2

While most of the family was packing up and saying their good-byes to Gulf Shores, Ella and I were gearing up for another week of vacation with family. This time, my side came to town! This was the first year for them to vacation here, so I was excited to introduce them to my summer love. :)

After traveling a whole 4 miles down the road, we had arrived at our house for the week. For the first few days it was just Cari's family and us. We had a blast going to the beach, cooking dinners, and playing card games each night. Ella was completely entertained the whole time with her 3 boy cousins. She was especially interested in sweet baby Clayton. She cannot get enough of babies!

On Tuesday my mom, Melody, and Caysie arrived. Ella felt the need to help Aunt Mel unpack so she did what she knew how to do...sit and talk. :) We were excited to have everyone there and spent all of our time at the beach, on the beautiful deck laying out (while babies napped), going out to dinner at the marina, and visiting the neighborhood pool. We also had a "catered" shrimp boil one night at the house. They came out and made us a feast of shrimp, sausage, corn and potatoes. So delicious! Ella was a bit tired of the sand and water as the week came to an end, but loved the shower we used to rinse off under the house!

We took the ferry across to Dauphin Island on the way home to bypass the busy road out of GS. The camera was fogged up due to the temp., but still had to get one of E on her first ferry ride...

Instead of driving the many hours home, my mom, Mel, Caysie, Ella and I flew back. This was Ella's first flight, so I was a little nervous about how it would go. Long story short, we hit traffic on the way to the airport so we were very late boarding. Everyone but my mom that is! She had to take the car back and check herself in so she didn't even make it on our flight. Poor thing had to take the next flight out and connect in Houston before making her way home. Mel and I were on a packed flight home and didn't even get to sit together. Ella did fine for the most part, but wasn't happy about sitting still in my lap for long. Thank heaven for Melody taking over for half the trip. Love her! We did make it back safely though and I would call Ella's first trip on an airplane a success. :)

It had been so long since my family had gone on a vacation together. We truly enjoyed spending time with one another and making new memories. Hopefully this will also become a tradition for my side and we will always get 2 wonderful weeks at the beach! :)
