This past weekend we loaded up the car and headed to Arkansas to spend the weekend with Zach's family. Since we are not too far from E's first birthday, we decided to turn her car seat forward facing to make the trip a little easier. I know, we are suppose to wait until she is a year old, but 2 weeks shy is close enough...especially when we wanted to make the trip enjoyable! It was so funny to see her initial reaction. She was grinning from ear to ear and kept kicking her little legs in all the open space she had. I kept looking back at her once we were on the road and she was as happy as she could be looking out the front window and at us. Every once and a while she would let out a loud giggle. :) This totally made the trip there go smoothly. She was also able to watch her Elmo DVD on the player in the car. She NEVER watches tv at home, but not because I don't have it on, because she doesn't take the time to slow down and watch! Since she was able to see the player now, I turned it on to see if she would watch...since she had no choice, and she loved it! :) It was cute to see her actually paying attention to it!
I didn't take too many pictures while we were there, but I was able to catch a few around the house. Ella's cousin, Connor, was by her side most of the time. He is so protective of her and loves to help her out. On Saturday we went shopping and he pushed her stroller down the street and in the stores all by himself. (with me close by) I love that he wants to take care of her like that! Zach's parents were so sweet to keep the kids Saturday afternoon so we could go to the horse races with his brother and sister-in-law. We had so much fun and even won some money! They took the kids to the rock shop and then down to walk on the golf course they live on. We heard that Ella didn't want to stay in her stroller, but walk just like the big kids. :)

Looks like a great time in Arkansas. Ella is growing way way too fast. I know she loved the car seat forward! Too funny.
Hope you enjoyed the trip. I can't wait to turn Barrett FORWARD in his car seat! It is SURE to make the trip much better!
