Birthverse

As I was catching up on my blog reading tonight, I saw that a friend of mine (thanks Kelli!) had posted about something called a birthverse. I have not ever heard of this, so I looked up the website and found this explanation:

"BIRTHVERSE consists of 366 verses chosen from the 66 books of the Bible. Each verse correlates the chapter and verse with its month and day. Your birth was appointed by God and has been recorded as your birthday. Our team spent countless hours searching the Bible for the perfect verse for each day of the year. Claim your verse, study it, memorize it and share it with others. But most of all, allow God to reveal Himself to you through your BIRTHVERSE."
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
2 Timothy 3:16-17

Ella's birthverse:
Revelations 3:20
Look! Here I stand at the door and knock. If you hear me calling and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal as friends.

I looked up this verse in my bible, which is the New Living Translation, and found its life application and meaning: "Jesus knocks at the door of our hearts because he wants to save us and have fellowship with us. He is patient and persistent in trying to get through to us - not breaking and entering, but knocking. He allows us to decide whether or not to open our life to him."

As a parent I pray for Ella's faith and her decisions in life. I pray that she will choose to open her heart to Him and follow the path that God has laid out for her.

On a side note...

I found this very interesting and it reminded me of something I saw on Fox News the other night. I was watching Mike Huckabee's show and he had Bill Maher on to discuss his new movie, "Religulous". One of the questions that Maher had was about why we have hurting and suffering in the world if it was created by a loving God? Mike Huckabee's answer was exactly what this verse is saying, that we have a choice as to worship Him or not. We are not forced to be a believer, but it is our choice to have faith and to search out God's plan for our life.

I encourage you to visit the website and look up your family's birthverses! :)

How wonderful to know this! You are such a good Mother, Amanda. I can't wait to go in and read the birth verses. Another way to encourage us all as we go thru life's steps and missteps.
